The 3rd Annual Walk & Wheel fundraising event was an outstanding success!!
The Walk & Wheel, co-partnered by Retirement Residences Group and The Arthritis Society - Alberta/NWT Division, was held Friday, April 13, 2007 at North Hill Centre Mall. This fun, engaging fundraising event features seniors from the four Retirement Residence Groups in Calgary - Scenic Acres, The Edgemont, The Renoir and McKenzie Towne Retirement Residences. The participants (residents, families and staff) raised pledges and hosted fundraising events with all proceeds going to help improve the quality of life for Albertans affected by arthritis. In total, an amazing $9,117.15 was raised for The Arthritis Society. Congratulations to The Edgemont, who was the top fundraising residence.
Residents were geared up in their team t-shirts to hit the course. We had entertainment, refreshments and face painting. Prizes were awarded to top fundraiser, most laps for walking (with & without a walker) and wheeling for both male and female and the 'crazy hat' competition. City TV and Global were out to capture the event, which was aired on the daily news!! Everyone had a great time and were already talking about next year!
