Royal Ascot Affair Forest Hill Place, Toronto, ON
Forest Hill Place, the neighbourhood's premier retirement residence, celebrated Seniors' Month, June 2007, by hosting "Royal Ascot" to coincide with Royal Ascot month in England. The management team dressed in period costume - morning suits and top hats, flowing gowns and flamboyant hats - and a delightful English-style "high tea" was served complete with watercress sandwiches and, of course, scones, Devon clotted cream and preserves. After City Councillor Karen Stintz officially opened the event, residents and guests enjoyed an afternoon of horseracing, blackjack and roulette, with all donations going to the Arthritis Society's "Joints in Motion" campaign.
