Newfie Screech-In Hunt Club Manor, Ottawa, ON
On Saturday, October 20th a fun filled evening of laughter, song and dance began with an authentic Newfoundland dinner featuring Fisherman's Stew and Biscuits. This was immediately followed by an evening of east coast entertainment provided by the engaging, upbeat performance of the Fumblin Fingers whose musical style and humorous stories kept all in attendance clapping, dancing, singing and laughing.
Part way through the evening, the screech-in ceremony began, hosted by our proud natural-born Newfoundlanders who welcomed 32 Residents and Guests into the Royal Order of Screechers during a ceremony that included kissing the cod, drinking authentic Newfoundland Screech then proudly reciting the phrase "Long may your big jib draw!"
Many thanks to our Volunteers, Staff, Residents and Guests. A special thank you to the Fumblin Fingers who made the evening even more special for all. Congratulations also to our Honorary Newfoundlanders who were welcomed into the Royal Order of Screechers!
