20th Anniversary Celebration Kanata Place Retirement Residence, Kanata, ON
On March 8th 2008, Kanata Place Retirement Residence celebrated our 20th Anniversary. Our theme was a bone chine tea with the rooms decorated with balloons and fresh flowers. We had special music for the day with jazz in the Dining room and a flute duet in the lounge with the snow falling continuously.
We enjoyed delicious finger foods, fancy sandwiches and tea and had a fruit and wonderful Chocolate fondue to tempt us.
The highlight was a special anniversary cake and a 3-foot tall ice carving of the number "20" done by an Ottawa Winterlude (our famous winter carnival) ice carver. Both were on display in the front hall, for all to admire.
Despite a bad snowstorm that day, we had a great turnout of family and friends who came to help us celebrate and sign our guestbook.
That evening because of the storm, some staff got stranded at work so we had a cozy pyjama party in the lounge with the residents telling stories and singing songs. It was a very memorable day.
